History of Trinity Furniture, Inc.
In the fall of 1983, Jorge Lagueruela and John Kennedy sat on a porch swing and the two men discussed, and later planned their future. Consequently, this chat began the groundwork for a new upholstered furniture company. With an initial investment of $510 and $490, respectively, the two neighbors formed Trinity Furniture in March 1984.
From its unpretentious beginnings, Trinity Furniture began as a private labeling manufacturer, and supplied seating for such clients as Hekman Furniture, Stanley Furniture, Sak 5 th Avenue, and Bloomingdale’s, to name a few. With this experience under their belts, Trinity Furniture acquired their first government executive wood contract in 1985.
In January 1986, the fledgling business was booming so architectural plans were drawn up for a new manufacturing facility to be located in the small rural town of Trinity, in the heart of the Furniture Capital region of High Point and Thomasville North Carolina. Construction on the initial building was complete in June of 1986.
During the next twenty years, the business had grown at a rapid pace, and numerous building additions Trinity Furniture manufacturing facility had increase to approximately 75,000 square feet on ten acres of land. Through these expansions, Trinity Furniture is able to incorporate a fully integrated sample, woodworking and finishing departments; allowing it to design and fabricate its own inner and exposed wood frames, meeting the stringent Federal Government and contract specifications. In 2002, John Kennedy retired thus leaving Jorge Lagueruela with the talented employees moving forward to meet the challenge of the forever-evolving furniture business. Now Trinity Furniture is working towards the future for continued growth and service to their commercial and government patrons.
